Celebrating Christmas

What an amazing Christmas day we had! We enjoyed celebrating the birth of our Saviour. JESUS is our King. We're reminded of the gift of eternal life He has given to us through His death on the cross. So undeserving of this gift, yet it has been given...no strings attached.
We celebrated with Papa, Mimi, Uncle Steve and Aunt Carrie and Aunt Rachel and Aunt Sasha.
The kids just before the Christmas Eve Service.
On Christmas Eve, Papa reads the story of St. Nicholas. We're reminded of the real St. Nicholas who gave gifts to those in need to remind them of God's gift to us...His Son Jesus Christ...the best gift of all.
Christmas morning

Payton got a "scuda" (scooter) just like Bubba's.

Camden got the Favre Jets jersey he's been asking for...it broke Matt's heart.

Maylee Grace got her first tea set.

A Visit from Santa

Our wonderful friend Mr. Jack came by to surprise the kids before Christmas. "Santa" brought Packers gear for the whole family! Payton didn't want to have anything to do with him. He was clinging to Aunt Rachel the whole time. When Camden was 3, "Santa" came by and Camden told us that Santa smelled like Mr. Jack. This year he wasn't fooled at all. He knew exactly who it was...besides Santa doesn't drive a red Ford truck, Mr. Jack does. :)

The Polar Express!!!

We headed out just days for before Christmas to Durango, CO. Our main scheduled event was to ride the Polar Express Train...to the North Pole, of course. It was a night the boys will not soon forget.

Just like the movie, we waited on the platform in the falling snow and watched while the huge black engine gloriously appeared through the steam and snow. We were served hot cocoa and cookies and anxiously awaited our arrival to the North Pole. Santa walked by all the windows and waved at the children. Then, as we headed back to the station, we found out that Santa had boarded the train!! He came through each car and handed out bells to all the children. It was such an amazing time for our boys!

Maylee Grace is 4 months old!

Maylee Grace had a visit with the good ol' Dr. Phil today. She couldn't get her shots because she's congested and has a cold. The shots will have to wait until after Christmas. Here are her stats:

25 1/4 inches long - 75% (18in @ birth)

12.3 lbs - 15% (5.0lbs @ birth)

Obviously, she's working hard. :)

SNOW!!!

The first big snow of the season was today. The boys were begging to put on their coats and snow boots and go play. The snow picked up and in a mere 2 hours there was no evidence of them being in the backyard. All of their footprints and truck tracks were covered with new snow! It's been snowing non-stop for hours and school is already delayed tomorrow!

Jesus, the celebrity

I live in a house where Jesus is a celebrity. To my kids He is just as cool as Elmo, Mickey Mouse or Tony Hawk. If only we all thought of Jesus this way and put Him on a pedestal, high and lifted up.

We were reminded of His star status just the other day. Since Matt and I were married, we put a crown on top of our Christmas tree instead of an angel or star. We've taught Camden and now, Payton that it is a reminder that "Jesus is our King".

The other day Matt was outside in front of the house talking to some people. Payton went out to see the people who were total strangers to him. He walked right up and pointed at the garden flag with the nativity scene on it and proceeded to tell them in his 2 year old dialogue that "Jesus is our King". My 2 year old a shining example of God's love for us and His perfect gift we celebrate this Christmas season.

Newest Member of the Family

So...Matt finally got what he wanted...a yellow lab. We rescued Cagan from the animal shelter this weekend. We found out that a guy who ran a puppy mill dropped off several labs last week. Matt went down on Saturday and fell in love with Cagan. She is 2 1/2 years old, so no potty training! She is so sweet and timid...which is great for our household :) . She's still a little nervous around Payton. Camden told me last night that she was his new best friend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A thought provoking question from our Pastor:

When God blesses you, do you love the blessings...or do you love HIM more??

We serve a God who loves us and we are so grateful. We are so thankful to be a family of five this year!! God has blessed us abundantly. We are so thankful for these beautiful children He has put in our care. Thank you God for these precious gifts. God, we're thankful for the family and friends you have put into our lives. We love You God and give You the glory!

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS!!!!

With Christmas Cds playing, we broke out the Christmas decorations. Matt reluctantly put up our tree a week early, so it would be up after we get back from Thanksgiving. The boys are having a blast. Camden is our resident Christmas light "plugger-inner" :) . Payton is just our resident redecorator. He moves decorations and/or ornaments as he sees fit. Matt put the train around the tree and they are ALL enjoying it. The boys have a small tree in their room and Christmas lights to decorate the bunkbeds...they're very excited about that...especially around 7:30pm every night :) .

The latest.....

Memaw Sellers sent Payton and Maylee Grace some "Squidlids". (Camden decided he didn't need one, because he was "too old" for it.) Payton loved his so much, he slept with it.
